Rotary District 9680 in New South Wales is the premier District of Sydney, Australia.

Its boundaries stretch from the southern shores of Sydney Harbour, west to the Parramatta River and Kellyville, reaching across the Hawkesbury River and north to Toukley on the Central Coast.

Within its boundaries are the business districts of North Sydney, Chatswood, Gosford and the Ryde industrial area. Beautiful beaches define its eastern border, whilst rural communities make up its western and northern borders.

Whilst compact in size by Australian standards the District contains 68 Rotary Clubs and approximately 2,000 Rotarians.

Each year there is a changeover of District Governor.

The District Governor for 2010-2011 is George Papallo from the Rotary club of St Ives.

George has been a member of the Rotary Club of St Ives for twenty two years. During those years George has served twice as Community Service Director, Club Service Director, President and Public Relations Officer.

At District level George received the Q E II Award for Service to Youth, he designed and presented training programs for interact, Rotaract, Rotary Youth Exchange and Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN).

George has served as District Chairman of Membership Growth and Retention for two years and Vocational Excellence Chairman for two years.

His most recent District position was as Assistant Governor.

George began his career as a science teacher progressing to Head Teacher Science at North Sydney Boys High. He holds a Dip Tech (Industrial Chemistry). ABS'c and a MEd.

For fourteen years George has been Chief Executive Officer of Macquarie Community College.

George is married to Cathie; they have two daughters and a son.
